Bayelsa United get stay or get disbanded order amid poor form

The Bayelsa State government has sent message to its club, Bayelsa United informing them that if they go on relegation at the end of the season, the club will be disbanded.

The Bayelsa State government also delivered message for the Ladan Bosso led coaching crew, issuing a two-match ultimatum.

This information was delivered by the Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali at a meeting with coaches and management of Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.

Igali noted tha the ultimatum became necessary due to the team’s failure to win matches, saying that government cannot continue to fold it’s hands and allow things to go from bad to worse despite huge financial support from the government.

According to him, the two games ultimatum would start this weekend in Port Harcourt against Rivers United and Katisina United and that failure to secure victories in both games means the coaches will be sacked, pointing out that any player who does not deserve to be in the team would also be asked to go.

The commisioner explained that the Governor has made it clear that if they drop to the lower division the team would be disbanded, urging the team to start winning. “This team has only two games to get out of position we are now, and if we are not going to do this it will not only affect the technical adviser but entire team. And any player that doesn’t deserve to be in the team will be shown the exit door,” Igali stated per Firstzeal Media cast.

The commissioner was particularly not happy with the statement made by head coach Ladan Bosso’ during his post match interview after the home draw against Enyimba on Sunday.

Dr. Igali stated that he finds the statement by Ladan Bosso as not only disheartening but disappointing against the government that foots the bills of Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens.

He directed the chairman of the club Dr. Tarilaye Nwankwe to punish Bosso or face sanction by the government, noting that it is not the duty of a coach to come out publicly to ridicule the government describing it as unacceptable.
