Bayern Munich name academy coach Tom Starke in Champions League squad
Bayern Munich have been forced to name academy coach Tom Starke in their Champions League squad.
After Manuel Neuer was ruled out until January with a fractured foot, it has left Bayern having to rely on Sven Ulreich and Christian Fruchtl to compete for the number-one position at the Allianz Arena.
However, with space still available in their European squad, manager Carlo Ancelotti has opted to hand a call-up to Starke, who had initially ended his playing career at the end of last season.
Starke fulfilled a similar role during pre-season, again due to the absence of Neuer, and the 36-year-old remains with a chance of adding to his 10 appearances for the German giants.
On Wednesday night, Bayern face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes as they look to make it two wins from two games in Group B.
