Benjamin Tanimu thrilled after making debut for Super Eagles
Young defender Benjamin Tanimu who currently plays for Tanzanian club Ihefu SC, expressed his elation after making his debut appearance for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their 2-1 friendly victory against the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday.
The 21-year-old defender showcased his skills for 71 minutes before being substituted for Ademola Lookman.
Taking to social media, Tanimu shared his joy and gratitude for the opportunity to represent the three-time African champions.
In a heartfelt post on his X page, he wrote, “My joy knows no bounds today. The debut came and I thank God for the Grace to play my part in the little way I could. Thanks to the coaching crew, the entire backroom staff, and the senior players for the warm reception into the team.”
Expressing his appreciation to fans and well-wishers, Tanimu continued, “Thanks to my wonderful fans across the world, the lovely Nigerians who have expressed their love and have given me their support all years. To the ever-articulating Nigerian Media, I hail you for your good works and I love you all.”
He concluded his message by rallying support for the national team, saying, “Let’s keep supporting the Eagles with our respective wings. This for me, is a dream come true.”
Before his international debut, Tanimu had been a standout player for Nigeria Premier Football League side Bendel Insurance before venturing abroad, marking his journey from local success to international recognition.
