Benzema leads Madrid past Barca, ends Copa del Rey final 9-year wait

Karim Benzema scored three goals to help Real Madrid beat Barcelona 4-0 at Camp Nou to reach Copa del Rey final for the first time since 2014.

Barcelona took a 1-0 first-leg win into the Copa del Rey semifinal second-leg clash at Camp Nou on Wednesday, but it was the visitors who secured a 4-1 aggregated win.

After a tension-filled first 45 minutes of action, Vinicius Junior canceled 1 goal advantage. Jules Koude thought he blocked the shot but it found a way into the net.

Five minutes after the start of the second half, Karim Benzema scored Real Madrid’s second goal following a pass from Luka Modric.

Three minutes later, Karim Benzema scored Real Madrid’s third goal from the spot kick after Franck Kessie brought down Vinicius in the box.

In the 80th minute of the game, Vinicius Junior teed up Karim Benzema who lobbed the ball over Marc-Andre ter Stegen to complete his hattrick.

Vinicius Junior contributed three goals (1 goal, 1 penalty won, and 1 assist), while Karim Benzema scored three goals to help Real Madrid book first Copa de Rey in nine years.
