Biffo, Osho, Boboye, Ilechukwu nominated for NPFL gong

Effiong receives second nomination in stellar season so far

The League Bloggers Association (LBA) have announced the shortlisted names for the awards of Player of the Month and Manager of the Month for the month of February from Nigeria’s premier division, the Nigerian Professional Football League. Rivers United gaffer, Stanley Eguma and Sunshine Stars striker, Sadeeq Yusuf won the awards for January 2021.

In the players’ category, Akwa United captain, Ndifreke Effiong has received a second consecutive nomination after his impressive form in February saw him score 3 goals for the Promise Keepers in the league to take his tally to 7 for the season. Kano Pillars goalkeeper, Idrissu Ibrahim was also named among the nominees after he kept 4 clean sheets in 6 matches played in February. Nasarawa United forward, Adamu Hassan has also been named among the nominees after he found the back of the net three times for the Solid Miners in February. Lastly, Rangers International striker, Christian Nnaji was nominated after a string of stellar performances for the Flying Antelopes in February culminated in his scoring three goals for the side.

In the managers’ category, Enyimba manager, Fatai Osho was nominated for the second month running after his team went through the whole of February unbeaten in the league. Kwara United coach, Abdullahi Biffo also made the cut after his side impressively reached the top of the NPFL table, losing only once in 6 matches in February. Heartland boss, Fidelis Ilechukwu was also nominated after his side recovered from a dismal start to the season and strung together a good run of results to move up to 11th on the NPFL log. Akwa United coach, Kennedy Boboye also received his second nomination after his side lost only once in February to climb up to 5th on the log.
