Blackburn Rovers sign Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis on loan
EFL Championship side Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis on loan from Nottingham Forest.
Dennis becomes the fourth Super Eagles player to play for Rovers, following in the footsteps of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Dickson Etuhu, and Hope Akpan.
Deadline Day Signing for Promotion Push
Subject to approval from football authorities, Dennis’ move was Blackburn’s third signing on the 2025 January transfer deadline day and their sixth signing of the window. He follows the arrivals of Yuri Ribeiro from Braga and Cauley Woodrow from Luton Town.
“Rovers have concluded their transfer deadline day business with the loan signing of Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis from Nottingham Forest,” the club announced.
Dennis has struggled for game time at Nottingham Forest and will now look to revive his career in the Championship. He follows the path of Aiyegbeni, who had a successful spell at Blackburn, scoring 18 goals and providing two assists in 33 appearances.
Fresh Start for Dennis
The 26-year-old forward previously had a loan spell at Istanbul Başakşehir but failed to secure a regular spot on his return to Forest. Now, with Blackburn pushing for promotion, he is expected to play an important role in their attack.
Dennis joins a club that has been home to several Nigerian players in the past. Aiyegbeni, Etuhu, and Akpan all made key contributions during their time at Ewood Park.
Having impressed at Club Brugge and Watford in the past, Dennis will hope to rediscover his best form and push for a return to the Super Eagles squad.
