Boboye hails Sunshine Stars players for performance in victory against Lobi Stars

Coach Kennedy Boboye of Sunshine Stars has praised his players for their performance in Wednesday’s Nigeria Premier Football League win over Lobi Stars.

The two-time NPFL-winning coach expressed confidence that the team’s recent victory over Lobi Stars marks the beginning of a positive turnaround for the club. Boboye also assured fans of the Akure-based outfit that Sunshine Stars would continue to fight and improve their position in the league standings.

After suffering a heavy defeat against Kano Pillars in their previous outing, Boboye’s side bounced back with a convincing 2-0 win over Lobi Stars in Akure.

Reflecting on the victory, Boboye praised his players for their resilience and determination, emphasizing the need to maintain focus and intensity in upcoming matches.

Boboye acknowledged the challenges faced by the team but emphasized the importance of regaining momentum and pushing for victories to climb up the NPFL table. He highlighted the strategic substitutions made during the game to inject fresh energy into the squad, particularly against a formidable opponent like Lobi Stars.

Boboye said, “I give kudos to the players. It wasn’t easy coming back from Kano with a heavy defeat, the momentum was down with the players. We talked to them, psyched them up. This is the beginning of a turnaround. We just need to concentrate and keep fighting to make sure we get out from where we are.

“We made the changes because we found out that some of the players are getting weak and tired legs. We needed some fresh legs to come and help us because we played against an experienced side that is topping the league. So, we don’t need to take anything for granted.

“We will keep pushing to make sure we win games because we need to win games to get out of the position we are. This one is done and dusted. Our next target is against Heartland because we need to get there and get something.”

Looking ahead, Boboye emphasized the importance of building on the recent success and targeting positive results in future matches. He identified the upcoming fixture against Heartland as a key opportunity to secure additional points and continue the team’s upward movement in the league standings.

The game against Heartland FC will present Boboye with an opportunity to face his former club, a team he managed earlier this season until a controversial call by the Imo State Governor led to the reinstatement of sacked coach Christian Obi.
