Bodø/Glimt’s historic Champions League run stuns Europe

FK Bodø/Glimt have written one of the most remarkable chapters in Norwegian football history.

The Eliteserien side has officially become only the second Norwegian club ever to reach the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 or beyond. They beat Manchester City, defeated Atlético Madrid, held Borussia Dortmund to a draw, and have now knocked out Inter Milan over two legs.

For a club from Norway to eliminate European heavyweights in succession is extraordinary. Inter were finalists just last season, yet Glimt matched them over 180 minutes and finished the job.

Bodø/Glimt is the former European home of Victor Boniface, a Nigerian football player who developed his reputation there before earning a move to one of Europe’s top leagues. The club’s fearless identity and attacking style that once showcased Boniface are now unsettling Europe’s elite.

Norwegian football has produced memorable moments before, but this feels different. Beating one giant is impressive. Beating several in the same campaign is historic.
