Bolaji Sakin fires Horoya past AS Togo-Port to boost Guinean side’s CAFCL knockout hopes

Former Rivers United forward Bolaji Simeon Sakin was on target as his Guinean club secured a hard fought 2-1 win in their CAF Champions League matchday five match against AS Togo-Port on Friday to keep their hopes alive.

The former Abia Warriors player came in for injured Camara in the 5th minutes of the game and lasted for 80 minutes on the field in the keenly contested tie.

Ocansey Mandela put the hosts in front in the 11th minutes of the game before Ablamvi Djadja equalized for the visitors in the 52nd minutes.

But Bolaji Sakin sent the crowd agog when he scored the winning goal in the 59th minutes.

The 25-year-old controlled the ball in the box with his left before firing the Guinean side’s winner through a defender’s legs with his right.

His goal helped Horoya end their three games winless run and boost their chances of making it to the next round after gathering 8 points from five games with just one game to go.

Horoya now second on the log with 8 points, three points behind Wydad Casablanca who are already through to the next round and three ahead of third place Mamelodi Sundowns.

A draw in their last game against Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa on the 28th of August will take them to the next round.
