Pep Guardiola is making drastic moves to change Manchester City’s poor form ahead of the New Year.
The City manager has told his players to spend Christmas night at the Etihad Campus, preparing for their Boxing Day match against Everton. This decision comes after their disappointing 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last weekend.
City’s defeat to Villa extended their poor run to just one win in their last 12 matches across all competitions, leaving them under immense pressure.
Speaking about the decision, Guardiola said, “We train today, we train tomorrow night, and we will stay over here.” While players were allowed to spend Christmas morning with their families, Guardiola emphasised that the evening would be focused on football.
Man City’s Struggles
The reigning Premier League champions have been struggling since November, earning only four points in two months. They are currently seventh in the league, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Facing Everton
City’s Boxing Day game against 15th-placed Everton offers a chance to regain confidence. The Toffees recently held Chelsea to a goalless draw, showing solid defensive organisation.
Guardiola hopes this strict preparation will inspire his team to turn their season around and recover their winning form.
