Brighton beat Arsenal to reach Women’s FA Cup semifinals
Brighton Women are through to the FA Cup semifinals after a 2-0 win over Arsenal Women at Meadow Park.
The breakthrough came early in the second half when Madison Haley finished from a Fran Kirby through-ball, stretching to guide the ball into the top corner.
Brighton added a second on 63 minutes when Caitlin Hayes met Kirby’s corner, headed past Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar.
One key moment came in the first half when Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made a close-range save to keep Arsenal out.
Nnadozie, who is from Nigeria and was born in Owerri, has been a consistent presence in goal and joined Brighton after her time with Paris FC. Her performances have made her one of the standout players in the squad, and this was another important contribution.
Despite changes from manager Renee Slegers, Arsenal could not find a way back.
Brighton now moves on to the semifinals with their FA Cup dream run alive.
