Brilliant Osaka wins second Australian Open title

Japanese now up to 4 Grand Slam titles

Japan’s world number 3, Naomi Osaka triumphed over American World number 22, Jennifer Brady in the final of the women’s category of the 2021 Australian Open.

The 22 year old Osaka, who has now won 21 consecutive tour level matches defeated Brady in straight sets 6-4 6-3 as she recorded her second success in the Australian Open to go with her two US Open titles. America’s 25 year old Brady, who lost to Osaka in the semi-final of the 2020 US Open once again failed to get revenge against Osaka as she was unable to find a way to defeat Osaka, who currently holds the world’s longest running winning streak in tennis. Brady made 24 unforced errors to Osaka’s 16 in the match.

Osaka continues in her quest to be one of women’s tennis greatest players as she has now won a Grand slam every year since 2018. Brady, seeded 22nd in the world still awaits her first ever Grand Slam title. Osaka became only the seventh active player to win four Grand Slam titles after Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters.
