Bronny James scores first points for Lakers in preseason game against Timberwolves

In a highly anticipated moment, Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, scored his first points as a Los Angeles Laker during the team’s preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Acrisure Arena.

While stars like LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards rested, Bronny took center stage in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Entering the game in the second quarter, Bronny initially struggled, recording a turnover and missing several shot attempts, including an airball that sparked debate. However, he soon found his rhythm with an impactful blocked shot that led to an assist on a 3-pointer.

The crowd eagerly awaited Bronny’s first basket, groaning as he missed his first five shots. In the final seconds of the game, Bronny finally delivered, driving to the basket and scoring a contested left-handed layup, drawing the loudest cheers of the night. His performance ended with two points on 1-of-6 shooting, along with three blocks, one assist, one rebound, and one turnover in 16 minutes of action.

Lakers’ rookie head coach JJ Redick praised Bronny James for his composure and effort, despite the challenging debut. While Bronny’s scoring was limited, another rookie, Dalton Knecht, stood out with a more impressive performance, showing his adaptability to the NBA’s fast pace.

Though the Lakers lost 124-107, Bronny’s first points as a Laker will be remembered as a milestone in his budding NBA career.
