Brown Ideye Upset About Nigerian Players Moving to Lesser-Known Countries
Former Super Eagles player Brown Ideye is unhappy about Nigerian players from the NPFL moving to countries that are not well-known in the football world.
Ideye, who was part of the Super Eagles team that won the AFCON title in 2013, has just returned to the NPFL. He recently joined Enyimba of Aba.
Ideye expressed concern about the growing trend of Nigerian players being sent to smaller, less-known countries. He blamed football agents for sending young players to low-level clubs.
He pointed out that two players, Ismail Sodiq and Deputy Echeta, recently moved to countries that aren’t popular in football.
“It’s sad how agents are sending our young stars to start their careers in unknown countries. Are they thinking about the players’ future?” Ideye said.
He added that it would be better for young players to start in second-division clubs in countries like France, Spain, or Germany, where they can be spotted by bigger clubs, instead of going to places where the football scene is less visible.
