Bublik wins Hong Kong Title, enters ATP Top 10
It was a breakthrough day for Alexander Bublik in Hong Kong, as he captured the title and, in the process, secured his first ever place inside the ATP Top 10.
Bublik defeated Lorenzo Musetti 7–6(2), 6–3 in the final to claim his first title of the season. The victory will see him rise from No. 11 to No. 10 in the ATP rankings, making him the first player from Kazakhstan to reach the Top 10.
After the match, Bublik struggled to take in the moment.
“The only goal for this season was to achieve the Top 10, and the first week I’m winning the title, I’m into the Top 10. If you told me that last April, I would never believe you.”
Bublik first entered the Top 100 in 2017, reached the Top 50 in 2019, moved into the Top 20 in 2024, and now completes that progression with a Top 10 entry. Since last May, he has won 34 of his last 43 matches and collected five titles in seven months.
In the semifinals, Bublik came from a set down to defeat Marcos Giron 3–6, 6–4, 6–2. The final’s first set was tight, with Bublik saving break points at 4-all and 5-all before passing the tiebreak. Once ahead, he took control of the second set to close the match in one hour and 38 minutes.
Musetti, who received treatment during the final for an arm issue, praised Bublik afterward and is still projected to move into the Top 5 in the updated rankings.
For Bublik, the Hong Kong title delivered more than a trophy. It confirmed his arrival among the game’s top players.
