Bukayo Saka breaks Thierry Henry’s record to become Arsenal’s youngest player to reach 50 Premier League goals
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has written his name in the club’s history by becoming the youngest player to score 50 Premier League goals for the Gunners.
At just 23 years and 52 days old, Saka surpassed the record previously held by club legend Thierry Henry.
Saka’s landmark goal came during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool. He opened the scoring early in the match, putting the Gunners in front. Though Virgil van Dijk equalised for Liverpool, Arsenal regained the lead through Mikel Merino, only for Mohamed Salah to level the score once more.
Interestingly, Henry also reached his 50th Premier League goal against Liverpool, scoring from the penalty spot during a 2-1 win at Anfield in 2001.
Saka’s feat is even more remarkable when compared to other Arsenal greats:
Robin van Persie was 27 years and 162 days old when he scored his 50th goal against West Ham in 2011. Theo Walcott and Freddie Ljungberg also reached the milestone at a much older age than Saka.
While Saka has set a new standard at Arsenal, the overall youngest player to reach 50 Premier League goals remains Robbie Fowler. The Liverpool legend achieved the feat at just 20 years and 252 days old, scoring twice in a 2-0 win against Manchester United in 1996.
Saka’s achievement cements his place among Arsenal’s brightest talents and continues his rise as one of the Premier League’s top young stars.
