Bulls end Spurs winning streak, Warriors edge Jazz to stay perfect

The Golden State Warriors made it 19 consecutive wins to start the NBA season after outlasting the Utah Jazz 106-103 on Monday.

Defending champions Golden State were forced to dig deep in Utah as Steph Curry’s three-pointer broke a 101-tie with 51 seconds remaining.

The Jazz, who exchanged leads with the Warriors down the stretch, moved within a point 14 seconds later via Rodney Hood.

And the Jazz had a golden opportunity to virtually end the Warriors’ remarkable start to the season when Hood unleashed from beyond the arc with five seconds left on the clock, but his shot missed.

Curry, who finished with 26 points, then converted a pair of free throws to seal the win.

Draymond Green and Klay Thompson contributed 20 points apiece for the Warriors.

Gordon Hayward (24) and Jazz team-mate Derrick Favors (23, 10 rebounds) combined for 47 points.

The San Antonio Spurs’ five-game winning streak was ended by the Chicago Bulls, who prevailed 92-89.

Pau Gasol inspired the Bulls with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds, while he blocked three shots.

Chicago team-mate Jimmy Butler added 14 points for the Bulls, who bounced back from Friday’s loss to the Indiana Pacers.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Kawhi Leonard top-scored with 25 points.

In other results, Paul Millsap (26 points, 11 rebounds), Jeff Teague (25 points) and Al Horford (21 points, 13 rebounds) helped the Atlanta Hawks to a 106-100 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Monday’s loss snapped the Thunder’s four-game winning run.

The Detroit Pistons accounted for the Houston Rockets 116-105 thanks to Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond, who combined for 55 points.

DeMarcus Cousins (31 points) helped the Sacramento Kings past the Dallas Mavericks 112-98.

The Boston Celtics overcame the Miami Heat 105-95 and the Milwaukee Bucks upstaged the Denver Nuggets 92-74.

DeAndre Jordan had a double-double of 18 points and 24 rebounds in the Los Angeles Clippers’ 102-87 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
