CAF CC: Fidelis Ilechukwu demands focus as Plateau United FC arrive Libya for Al Akhdar SC playoff 2nd leg encounter
Fidelis Ilechukwu who is Head Coach of Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Plateau United FC has demanded focus from his charges as they arrive Libya for the playoff round second leg encounter vs Al Akhdar SC.
Coach Illechukwu and his charges will head into the second leg encounter at the Binena Stadium with a 4-1 aggregate lead from the first leg in Nigeria.
Goals from Mustapha Yuga, Ifeanyi Emmanuel and a brace from Albert Hilary helped Plateau United FC to victory over Al Akhdar SC in the first leg decided at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
In a chat with the clubs media crew following the safe arrival of the 40-man Plateau United FC delegation in Benghazi, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu played down his sides healthy lead instead laying a call for focus to get a decent result and qualify for the Group stage.
He said ” We are fully prepared for this all important match , knowing fully well that coming out with a decent result will catapult the team to the group stage of the competition, Coach Ilechukwu said.
” Naturally a four-one victory is a good scoreline by any standard, but in a competition of this magnitude, where the away goal rule counts, we need maximum concentration to enable us come out unscathed, ” Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu remarked.
Kick-off for the Al Akhdar SC vs Plateau United FC match is 5pm local time (3pm Nigerian time).
The aggregate winner of the match will join seven others in the group stage of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup.
