CAF Champions League Final is the ‘biggest game ever’ for Pitso Mosimane
Pitso Mosimane, coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, claims that Saturday’s Champions League final clash at home to Zamalek is the most important game of his career.
Sundowns recorded a 1-0 win over Zamalek in the group stages, but are on alert for the CAF Final after having lost their last match 3-0 to Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 Final. Mosimane dismissed any ideas that this would hang over their heads, however, by stating, “This is a chalk and cheese cup, by comparison.” Mosimane added that the formations and officiating are totally different in the Champions League.
Whilst having won two league titles with Sundowns since he took over in 2012, the Sundowns coach stated, “I don’t think the Sundowns have played any game as big as this.”
He added that this is the most momentous game for the players. Forward Khama Billat was much less dramatic, however, saying that his side were simply “ready for Zamalek” on Saturday.
The stakes are clearly high for both managers and sides as this comes days after Zamalek manager Momen Soliman declared he would resign if his side lost the CAF Final.
The CAF Champions League will take place over two legs, with the first leg occurring on the 15th in South Africa. The second leg will take place on the 23rd at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
