CAF Champions League: Remo Stars to Face Mamelodi Sundowns After Beating Zilimadjou

Remo Stars have booked their place in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, where they will face South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Nigerian side sealed their progress after defeating US Zilimadjou of Comoros 1-0 in the return leg played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Friday. The result gave them a 5-0 aggregate victory, following their 4-0 win in the first leg.

Alex Oyowah scored the only goal of the second leg, converting a second-half penalty to confirm Remo Stars’ dominance over their opponents.

Despite being listed as the away side for the return fixture, Remo Stars once again enjoyed home advantage as both matches were staged in Abeokuta. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s team looked sharp, organised and confident, leaving Zilimadjou with no chance of staging a comeback.

With the result, the Sky Blue Stars will now turn their attention to Mamelodi Sundowns, one of Africa’s most successful clubs. The clash promises to be a tough test for the Nigerian team, who are aiming to make a big impression in their Champions League campaign.
