CAF CL: Super Eagles defender Ebube Duru optimistic ‘determined’ Rivers United can surmount Wydad Casablanca hurdle
Super Eagles defender Ebube Duru believes his Rivers United FC teammates are determined are ready to surmount any hurdle this weekend’s CAF Champions League opponents Wydad Casablanca presents.
NPFL Champions Rivers United FC will on Sunday October 9, face Wydad Casablanca in a CAF Champions League second preliminary round first leg clash.
Duru was part of Jose Paseiro’s Super Eagles squad for the last international window and started the 2-2 draw vs the Algeria B team in a test game.
Speaking ahead of the game on Sunday Duru said: “No disrespect to them (Wydad AC), they are a very good side, they are the defending champions and we know for the past years, North African teams have been giving us problems but we have our game plan, we have our training program and all the tactics involved.”
“As a team we are determined, coupled with the promise the Governor (His Excellency Governor Nyesom Wike) made to us so we know what is at sake and definitely even with the pressure, we are coming all out to give our best and make sure we get the desired victory. ” Ebube Duru said .
The Pride of Rivers will be home for the first leg. The match will hold at the Adokieye Amasiamaka stadium Port Harcourt will kickoff by 4pm of Sunday October 9, 2022.
Rivers United FC will have to surmount the Wydad Casablanca hurdle over two legs if they must reach the money spinning group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Wydad Casablanca defeated Al Ahly to win the 2021/2022 CAF Champions League title and according to Duru, they will meet a determined Rivers United FC team for a place in the group stage.
