CAF Competitions: Lobi Stars, Rangers on the edge after first leg results
Nigerian club contigents at the 2018-19 CAF Competitions are on the verge after their first leg results in their various preliminaries.
The Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Lobi Stars of Markudi, Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Champions League suffered a narrow loss away from home to Cameroonian club UMS de Loum on Wednesday.
While the Aiteo Cup champions, Rangers, who are Nigerian representative in CAF Confederation Cup secured a slim 2-0 over Defence forces FC of Ethiopia at the Cathedral.
The Nigerian champions gave everything to avoid a loss to USM Loum but eventually fell to a 64th minute strike from Jean Abadan.
In the other game, two goals from the spot kicks ensured Rangers hold two goals advantage ahead of the second leg clash scheduled for Ethiopia next week.
Godwin Aguda scored both goals for the Flying Antelopes as they eye a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages this season.
Lobi Stars must win by two goals margin when they tackle the Cameroonian club UMS de Loum at the Aper Aku Stadium on December 4th in the second leg.
Also, Rangers must avoid defeat beyond a goal margin when they travel to Ethiopia on December 5th.
Past results have shown that it not over a d nothing is won ornlost by both Nigerian clubs and must give it all in their second leg games.
