CAF Confederations Cup Playoff draw: Breakdown of who Nigerian clubs could face including one another

After yesterday’s CAF Confederations Cup seedings, it appears Nigerian teams could face one another in the playoff draw that will take place in Cairo, Egypt later today.

We break down the chances of Nigerian clubs facing one another in the CAF Confederation Cup and look ahead to who else they could meet in the playoff draw that will take place today.

Who can they meet?

Enyimba

The People’s Elephant could only avoid a matchup against USM Alger (Algeria), Supersport (South Africa), Hilal Obied (Sudan) but can get any other teams including MFM FC, Plateau United and Akwa United.

Plateau United

The 2016-17 Nigeria Professional Football League will not get a matchup against MFM FC, ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire), Mounana (Gabon), Young Africans (Tanzania), Williamsville (Cote d’Ivoire), Aduana (Ghana), Gor Mahia (Kenya), UD Songo (Mozambique), Rayon Sport (Rwanda), Generation Foot (Senegal), and Bidvest (South Africa) but can face Akwa United, Enyimba and the remaining 18 teams.

MFM FC

Fidelis Ilechukwu side will also avoid Plateau United, ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire), Mounana (Gabon), Young Africans (Tanzania), Williamsville (Cote d’Ivoire), Aduana (Ghana), Gor Mahia (Kenya), UD Songo (Mozambique), Rayon Sport (Rwanda), Generation Foot (Senegal), and Bidvest (South Africa) but can face Akwa United, Enyimba and the remaining 18 teams.

Akwa United

The reigning Federation Cup champions will avoid a matchup against CR Belouizdad (Algeria), La Mancha (Congo), CARA (Congo), El Masry (Egypt), Niefang (Equatorial Guinea), Wolaitta Dicha (Ethiopia), Fosa Junior (Madagascar), Djoliba (Mali), RS Berkane (Morocco), Raja Club Athletic (Morocco), and Costa do Sol (Mozambique), but could get the remaining 21 teams including Nigerian clubs MFM FC, Enyimba and Plateau United.
