CAFCC: Rivers United thrash APC do Lobito in Uyo
Pride of Rivers go top in Group C following win
Rivers United strolled to a 3-0 win over Angolan outfit APC Do Lobito in their CAF Confederation Cup Group C Matchday One clash in Uyo.
The Pride of Rivers are the only Nigerian team in the group stage of any continental competition, and they showed their quality against their Angolan opposition.
It took only three minutes for Stanley Eguma’s boys to open the scoring at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, their adopted home for the tournament.
Mercurial midfielder Alex Oyowah played a cute reverse pass to find the run of Samuel Antwi, who calmly slotted past the goalkeeper of the Angolan outfit.
The Pride of Rivers doubled their advantage in the first minute of the second half through Paul Odeh, who scored a piledriver from around 25 yards out.
The scoring was rounded off by Shedrack Asiegbu in the 61st minute with another fine strike from the edge of the box for Rivers United.
Rivers United have opened their campaign with a good win at home, and will look to continue in the same vein.
