CAFWCL: Bayelsa Queens beat TP Mazembe to go 2nd in Group B
Flamingos stars Etim, and Aderemi also featured
Bayelsa Queens beat TP Mazembe Ladies 2-0 in their second CAF Champions League game in Morocco to go second on the log in Group B after two games.
The Nigerian champions bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to South African and African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns ladies in their first game with a win on Thursday.
Prosperity girls took care of business in the first half of the game to keep their hopes of advancing from the group alive.
Ogoma Joseph scored the first goal of the game in the third minute from a spot kick and Chinyere Igbomalu scored the second goal in the 24th minute.
Bayelsa Queens could have easily ended the first half with a 5-0 margin but just as they did in the first game they squandered all of their chances.
They were wasteful in front of the goal, indecisive, and just seeking individual glory – they could have paid for their missed chances but Cameroon International goalie Bawou Gabrielle saved two sure goals.
She kept the team in the game and ensured the half ended 2-0 in favour of Bayelsa Queens.
Bayelsa Queens were just not in the game for the most part of the second half escaping what could have been a penalty to TP Mazembe in the second half.
Flamingos stars, Edidiong Etim, and Mary Aderemi who returned to their club yesterday just as we reported also played a few minutes in the win.
Bayelsa Queens will play their last Group B game against Egyptian Wadi Degla on Sunday, while Sundowns will play TP Mazembe.
Earlier today, Sundowns trashed Wadi Degla 5-0 in their game to make it two wins from two games.
