Cameroon coach says Osimhen is a ‘ big player ‘
Cameroon head coach, Rigobert Song, says Victor Osimhen is a big player as he prepares to face the Nigerian striker in the 2023 AFCON round of 16.
Song expressed respect for Victor Osimhen but emphasized that his team is not afraid of the Nigerian striker.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are set to face the Super Eagles in the round of 16 of the AFCON in Abidjan on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Osimhen, the reigning CAF Player of the Year, has scored one goal in three games so far in the tournament. Despite not having a prolific start, he remains a player to watch out for due to his goal-scoring threat.
Song acknowledged Osimhen’s stature in the game during the pre-match press conference.
He said “Osimhen is a big player. We know him and respect him. But respecting him doesn’t mean that we should fear him.”
The coach emphasized that the key for his team is to stay focused, apply their philosophy and technique, and approach the match with confidence. He believes that by doing so, they can achieve the desired outcome against Nigeria on Saturday night.
