Manchester United will be aiming to end their six-year trophy drought when they take on Newcastle United at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

Newcastle United have a drought of their own, which dates back to 1955, when they won the FA Cup.

The Red Devils are still competing in four competitions this season and have the opportunity to lift a trophy before the business end of the season.

Erik Ten Hag also harped on the importance of ending the drought.

“It’s a great opportunity to get the silverware in. It’s all about that glory and honour in football. We deserve to play the final and we have a great opportunity to win the cup and we have to do everything to get it to Manchester.

“I think we are in a process where everyone believes. We go from game to game and we are looking forward to the next game. We have to follow that line to improve and be the best.”

Team News:

Marcus Rashford was an injury scare against Barcelona in the midweek, it is unclear if he will be able to start.

Anthony Martial, Christian Eriksen and Donny Van de Beek have all been ruled out of the final.

Newcastle United will rue the absence of first-choice goalkeeper, Nick Pope, who is suspended following his red card against Liverpool last weekend.

Martin Dubravka is cup-tied having featured for Manchester United in the competition before returning to Newcastle United in January.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper, Loris Karius will  be in goal for Newcastle United.

Bruno Guimaraes is expected to return to the fold after serving a domestic suspension.

He is expected to provide leadership, experience to the team in the final.

The Newcastle winger is a player reborn producing impressive performances for the Magpies this season,  he has scored 10 goals in 23 Premier League appearances this season.

Bruno Guimaraes: The Brazilian midfielder makes Newcastle United thick with his creativity and ability to pop up with goals.

Newcastle United fans will be hoping he can bring his best game to the table at Wembley.
