Champions League quarter-finals recap: Man City and Arsenal crash out
In a disastrous night for English Premier League teams Manchester City and Arsenal, the Champions League quarter-finals saw their exits from the competition.
Arsenal’s hopes were dashed after a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich, with Joshua Kimmich scoring the decisive goal in the second half – as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners again fell short in a decisive game.
Bayern Munich advances to the Champions League semi-final for the first time since 2020, while Arsenal is condemned to focus on the Premier League title race for their hope of silverware.
In the other fixture on Wednesday night, Manchester City’s title defense ended after losing to Spanish giants Real Madrid on penalties.
Despite Rodrygo opening the scoring for City and Kevin de Bruyne equalizing, Antonio Rudiger’s decisive penalty sent Real Madrid through to the semi-final. The match ended 1-1 on the night and 4-4 on aggregate.
The semi-final matchups are now set, with Bayern Munich facing Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund taking on PSG.
