Chelle Delighted as Super Eagles Grow into His Tactical Philosophy

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed satisfaction with the steady progress his players are making as they adapt to his tactical ideas.
Nigeria showed great composure and resilience in extra time to defeat Gabon and book their place in the World Cup play-off final. The performance pleased Chelle, who said his main focus since taking charge has been to build a clear and consistent style of play.
“Like I said, the most important thing is for our team to create an identity. The identity is how we play in defence and how we play in offence,” he explained after the match.
Chelle praised his players for their commitment to improvement, noting that every international window has helped the group grow stronger.
“This is why we try every time to improve at every FIFA window. Now these guys are improving mentally, technically, and they understand what I want to do for them,” he said.
With confidence building within the squad, the Super Eagles now turn their attention to the decisive play-off final, where their hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup remain firmly alive.
