Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino part ways by mutual consent

After a single season at the helm, Chelsea Football Club and head coach Mauricio Pochettino have decided to part ways mutually. The decision comes following Chelsea’s sixth-place finish in the league standings.

Pochettino’s tenure, marked by a strong finish to the campaign, nonetheless encountered disagreements with the club’s owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, leading to the amicable separation.

Expressing gratitude for Pochettino’s service, Chelsea’s sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, conveyed their appreciation and wished him success in his future coaching endeavors. Pochettino reciprocated the sentiment, thanking the ownership group and the sporting directors for the opportunity to contribute to the club’s history.

Alongside Pochettino, his coaching staff including Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino have also departed from Chelsea.

Sporting Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: ‘On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.’

Mauricio Pochettino said: ‘Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.’

For Chelsea, the search for a new leader begins as they aim to navigate future challenges and continue their pursuit of success both domestically and in European competitions.
