Chelsea assistant coach Willy Caballero has explained why his team beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
A late goal from young star Willian Estevão gave Chelsea the win at Stamford Bridge in dramatic fashion.
Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, was sent off after celebrating wildly. He had already been booked earlier for arguing about a VAR penalty decision, and after the winning goal, he ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate with the players.
Speaking after the match, Caballero said Chelsea won because they stayed strong and focused until the end.
The former Argentina goalkeeper also said the team looks for solutions, not excuses.
“We finished well. We finished strong,” Caballero said.
“Enzo said before, we are a good football team. We created chances in the first half.
“Liverpool had a few chances too, but we deserved our second goal. The way we defended today, with four full-backs in defence, was amazing.
“We’re all very proud of the players. We didn’t make excuses. We found a way to win.”
