Chelsea Dismiss Swap Deal for Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku with Napoli
Chelsea have dismissed the possibility of a swap deal involving Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku with Napoli, according to recent reports.
Chelsea’s Interest in Osimhen
Chelsea have shown a strong interest in Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen over recent months. Despite struggling with injuries, Osimhen has had a notable season, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in all competitions. His performance stands out amid Napoli’s overall disappointing season, making him their highest goal scorer.
No Swap Deal Considered
Rumors had circulated about a potential swap deal between Chelsea and Napoli, which would see Romelu Lukaku move to Napoli in exchange for Osimhen. However, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his official X account that such a deal is not being considered by either club.
“Chelsea and Napoli are currently not working on a swap deal between Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku,” Romano stated. “Chelsea are insisting on a ÂŁ38 million release clause for any club keen on signing Romelu Lukaku this summer.”
Romelu Lukaku’s Situation
Romelu Lukaku, who has been on loan at Roma, is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. During his time with Roma, Lukaku impressed with 21 goals and four assists in all competitions. Despite his successful loan spell, Chelsea have made it clear that they prefer to sell Lukaku outright, aiming to secure a decent transfer fee before his contract ends on June 30.
Future Prospects
While there had been reports of a verbal agreement between Chelsea and Osimhen, the proposed swap deal appears to be off the table. Chelsea’s focus remains on finding a club willing to meet their asking price for Lukaku, while they continue to explore options for strengthening their attacking lineup.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Chelsea will be looking to finalize their squad for the upcoming season, with Osimhen remaining a key target despite the complexities of transfer negotiations with Napoli.
