Chelsea and Monaco agree on Bakayoko fee, medical scheduled for Friday
Chelsea are finally closing in on the signing of midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, according to reports
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, with a medical scheduled for the midfielder, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a move to bring the French midfielder to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks but a deal is yet to be officially confirmed.
However, Sky Sports News HQ reporter Solhekol says that Chelsea are now edging closer towards tying up a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder, and that he is set to undergo a medical with the west London club in the coming days.
The journalist also claims that the fee for Chelsea to sign the midfielder from Monaco is expected to be in the region of around £40m.
There had been suggestions that Manchester United were ready to make a move to sign Bakayoko ahead of Chelsea but Solhekol says those claims are untrue.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning Solhekol said: “Chelsea are pressing ahead on their move for Tiemoue Bakayoko.
“They are close to signing the Monaco midfielder and he will have a medical in the next few days.
“The fee is expected to be just under £40m.
“There have been reports Manchester United are trying to hijack the deal again, but we’re told they have no interest in Bakayoko and they have not made a bid for him.”
Chelsea are preparing for the defence of their Premier League title next season as they also gear up for a return to the Champions League.
