Chelsea still in the race for Victor Osimhen signature

Chelsea have not ruled out a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen if the Italian club lowers their asking price, according to latest reports.

The Blues are in search of a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, who scored 14 Premier League goals and 17 in all competitions last season.

Despite signing 18-year-old forward Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Chelsea is reportedly looking to bring in another striker before the season starts.

The Stamford Bridge club has been linked with several strikers across Europe, including Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, and Lille’s Jonathan David.

Chelsea has long-term interest in Osimhen but reportedly decided to end their pursuit earlier this summer due to the high cost and concerns over his style of play.

The 25-year-old Nigerian international has a release clause of around £113 million in his contract, but no serious offers have been made so far.

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea could reconsider a move for Osimhen if Napoli lowers their asking price.

However, Saudi Arabia is currently seen as a more likely destination for Osimhen than Stamford Bridge. Napoli is expected to want the release clause or a figure close to it and it remains to be seen if they will reduce their price to facilitate a transfer.
