Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo Wins Top African Award

Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has been given the African Illustrious Award by My Media Africa, a Pan-African media company.

The award celebrates his historic achievement as the first Nigerian player to win the new FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.

The African Illustrious Award is given to Africans who are making a big impact around the world in areas like sports, business, innovation, leadership, technology, and the arts.

In a statement on Thursday, My Media Africa said:

“This award of excellence, given in recognition of Tosin being the first Nigerian to win the Club World Cup, shows what can happen when talent, discipline, and opportunity come together.”

Adarabioyo received the award in person on Wednesday at the organisers’ office in Lekki, Lagos.

The former Manchester City player said the award meant a lot to him.

“I’m very proud to receive this award. It’s more than just a trophy – it’s a celebration of heritage, excellence, and global success,” he said.

“I’m happy to have played a big role in winning the Club World Cup, and I will keep working hard to achieve more and earn honours like this.”
