Chiamaka Nnadozie nominated for goalkeeper of the season award
Paris FC’s Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been recognized for her outstanding performances this season as she has been nominated for the Best Goalkeeper of the Season award in the French Feminine Division 1.
Nnadozie’s contributions have been key for Paris FC this season, aiding the team in securing a top-four finish in the league and qualifying for the Championship Play-off.
The Super Falcons star made 17 league appearances, achieving six clean sheets and conceding 20 goals, which significantly bolstered Paris FC’s defensive stability.
Notably, the team boasts the third-best defensive record in the French elite division, trailing behind leaders Lyon and second-place PSG.
Nnadozie will vie for the prestigious award alongside Olympic Lyon’s goalkeeper Christiane Endler and PSG’s shot-stopper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek.
Endler conceded eight goals in 16 games for Lyon, while Kiedrzynek featured in eight matches for PSG, conceding seven goals and keeping a clean sheet in one.
Nnadozie, who was also nominated for the same award last season, stands a good chance of clinching it, boasting an impressive 70.8% save percentage.
Additionally, the Super Falcons’ number one displayed prowess in penalty saves, stopping two out of three penalty kicks she faced this season, compared to none out of seven in previous years. Her proficiency in this area sets her apart, as no other goalkeeper made as many penalty saves.
The 22-year-old has demonstrated remarkable growth since winning the Bruno Martini Award for Goalkeeping Revelation of the Season in the French top flight three years ago.
She is currently the CAF Women’s goalkeeper of the year.
