Chidera Ejuke delighted as Akor Adams makes Sevilla debut
Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke has expressed his delight after Akor Adams made his debut for Sevilla in their 0-0 draw against Getafe on Saturday.
Adams recently joined the Spanish club from Ligue 1 side Montpellier in a €5.5 million deal and wasted no time getting involved.
Adams’ First Sevilla Appearance
The Nigerian striker immediately joined Sevilla’s training sessions and was included in the matchday squad for their La Liga clash at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
Adams started on the bench but was introduced in the 81st minute as Sevilla searched for a late goal. Although he did not find the net in his 18 minutes on the pitch, Ejuke was pleased to see him get his first minutes for the club.
“I’m happy for him; it was an important day, and he must continue to grow,” Ejuke said.
Sevilla’s Struggles in Attack
The result leaves Sevilla in 11th place in La Liga, with 28 points from 22 games, as they wait for Osasuna and Celta Vigo’s upcoming matches.
Adams was brought in to boost Sevilla’s attack, as Isaac Romero has struggled for consistency, managing just two goals and two assists in 18 games.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer last summer, has yet to score in nine appearances, mostly coming off the bench.
If Adams quickly adapts and starts scoring, he could overtake Romero to become coach García Pimienta’s first-choice striker at Sevilla.
