Chido Obi-Martin passes medical as Manchester United move nears official announcement
Former Arsenal youngster Chido Obi-Martin has successfully passed his medical at Manchester United, bringing him closer to joining the club.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the update on X, stating, “Chido Obi-Martin has completed his medical as the new Manchester United player.”
Although the medical is a significant step in the free transfer from Arsenal, the move is not yet official. According to Rich Fay of MancWorldUK, the transfer still awaits Premier League ratification before it can be finalized. Romano also verified this final administrative hurdle that United must clear.
Fay reports that Obi-Martin was impressed by United’s proposed development plan, which includes opportunities as the club’s third-choice striker. Romano confirmed this, adding that the 16-year-old will be given chances to make an impact in the first team.
Obi-Martin gained attention in April for his impressive performance with Arsenal’s U-18s, scoring seven goals in a 9-0 win over Norwich. He also netted five goals against West Ham United, four against Crystal Palace, and four against Fulham, totaling 28 goals in 16 games. This remarkable tally broke Folarin Balogun’s record for the most goals scored by an Arsenal U-18 player in a season, previously set at 25 during the 2018/19 campaign.
