Chido Obi-Martin Scores Twice in Manchester United U18s’ 5-2 Victory Over Preston North End

Chido Obi-Martin continued his excellent form for Manchester United’s U18s, scoring twice in a 5-2 win over Preston North End in the Youth FA Cup on Friday night.

The young striker, who joined United from Arsenal in the summer, has been impressive since his move, scoring five goals and providing one assist in five U18 Premier League matches.

Obi-Martin scored United’s third and fourth goals, with Jack Fletcher, Reece Munro, and Amir Ibragimov also finding the net.

The Nigerian-eligible forward played a key role in United’s first goal, making a clever pass forward that allowed James Scanlon to cross the ball for Jack Fletcher to score in the 7th minute.

In the 24th minute, Obi-Martin opened his account, capitalising on a loose ball, turning quickly, and scoring from close range.

He then scored his second in the 31st minute, using excellent footwork to beat his marker before curling a precise shot into the bottom-right corner.

There were high expectations for Obi-Martin as star forward Gabriele Biancheri was sidelined due to an arm injury. Biancheri, who has scored 16 goals in 17 matches this season, including a hat-trick against Coventry City in the third round, was missed.

With Biancheri absent, Obi-Martin stepped up, showing he is ready to lead the attack as United look ahead to their Youth FA Cup fifth-round match against Chelsea.
