Chidozie Obi-Martin scores four as Arsenal U18 thrash Crystal Palace 8-3
In a thrilling U18 Premier League clash at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, Danish-Nigerian talent Chidozie Obi-Martin starred significantly as Arsenal romped to a resounding 8-3 victory over Crystal Palace.
The Gunners, eager to end their three-game winless streak, took control early with goals from Osman Kamara and Harrison Dudziak, establishing a 2-0 lead within ten minutes.
Obi-Martin, playing as a center forward, further solidified Arsenal’s dominance in the 18th minute with a composed finish after receiving a precise through-ball from Rosiak.
Despite a brief response from Palace’s Derry, Obi-Martin swiftly restored Arsenal’s three-goal advantage with a stunning strike from approximately 20 yards out before halftime.
In the second half, Obi-Martin continued to impress, converting from the penalty spot after drawing a foul in the area, securing his hat-trick and extending Arsenal’s lead to 5-2.
The Danish-Nigerian wonderkid wasn’t done yet, adding a fourth goal to his tally in the 89th minute, courtesy of an assist from substitute Theo Julienne.
Arsenal’s dominance was evident as other scorers in the second half included Kamara and Julienne, while Palace’s Derry managed to grab a brace from the penalty spot.
With this remarkable performance, Obi-Martin has now scored eight goals in ten appearances for Arsenal U18s this season. His outstanding contribution has earned him recognition as the team’s leading scorer in the league, further enhancing his reputation as a promising talent.
Having already signed a pre-scholarship deal ahead of the 2024-2025 season, Obi-Martin’s future looks bright as he continues to shine for Arsenal’s youth setup.
