Chris Green Believes Eric Chelle Will Succeed as Super Eagles Coach
Former NFF Technical Director Barrister Chris Green believes Eric Chelle, the new head coach of the Super Eagles, will be successful.
Since the dismissal of Finidi George, the Nigerian national team has not had a permanent coach for their World Cup qualifying matches in June 2024. Augustine Eguavoen stepped in as interim coach, leading the team to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Now, Eguavoen has been replaced by Chelle.
Green has urged the NFF to create a supportive environment for Chelle to help him succeed with the team. He believes that Nigeria has the talent, but the focus should be on the players’ mentality, discipline, and how well the coach fits with the Super Eagles.
Green said, “I hope the NFF has arranged the right environment for Chelle so he can succeed and help us qualify for the next World Cup.”
Chelle will begin his role with the Super Eagles when World Cup qualifiers resume in March. Nigeria will first play against Rwanda, then host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium three days later.
