Christian Eriksen set to join a Premier League club this week?
Christian Eriksen is reportedly poised for a remarkable return to the Premier League this week.
The 29-year-old has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch during Denmark’s opening game of Euro 2020 in June.
The midfielder has since had his Inter Milan contract terminated by mutual consent and is now eyeing a return to England.
The ex-Tottenham man has had approaches from several clubs in England’s top flight, according to the Times, and hopes to finalise a move to one by the weekend.
Eriksen is determined to prove he is still capable of playing at the highest level as he looks to earn a place in Denmark’s 2022 World Cup squad.
That means money is not his priority and he is willing to take a large pay cut from the reported £200,000 per week he earned in Italy.
Eriksen said recently: “My goal is to play the World Cup in Qatar.
“That has always been my mentality. It is a goal, a dream. If I am chosen it is something else, but it is my dream to return.
“I’m sure I can go back because I don’t feel any different. Physically, I am in perfect shape.
“This was my goal and it’s still a long way off, so until then I’ll play football and show that I’m back to the same level.”
The midfield maestro helped deliver Inter their first Serie A title for 11 years last season and would be a talented addition to most Premier League squads.
He is also proven in the top flight after spending seven years at Spurs where he made 226 Premier League appearances, scoring 51 times and providing 62 assists.
But Football London are reporting that Spurs are not among the clubs to have made an approach at this stage.
