Chukwueze Delighted After Man of the Match Display in Fulham’s Win Over Spurs

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze could not hide his excitement after inspiring Fulham to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night.
Fulham went into the London derby as slight underdogs after a difficult start to the Premier League campaign, but they delivered one of their most complete performances of the season to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points.
Chukwueze was the standout performer, earning the Man of the Match award following a vibrant display on the wings. The AC Milan loanee was handed a surprise starting spot by Marco Silva despite being used from the bench against Sunderland a week earlier, where he provided the decisive assist. Against Spurs, he repaid that faith by assisting Kenny Tete for Fulham’s opener and causing constant problems for the home defence.
The Super Eagles star spoke after the game, insisting that his performance was a reflection of his dedication and steady improvement in recent months.
“I wasn’t expecting it today. But I was focusing on doing the hard work,” he said. “Last months have been a bit difficult but I kept my head down and kept working, and I took the opportunity today.”
Chukwueze added that the encouragement and competitiveness within the Fulham squad helped push him to raise his level.
“They push me really hard in training and keep me motivated. We are so proud of the result today. We worked for it on the training pitch,” he said.
He also praised the commitment of his teammates, emphasising how much effort was needed to seal the win.
“The players gave everything on the field. We had to defend with all our life. This win is very, very important,” Chukwueze stated.
His performance will give Marco Silva plenty of confidence ahead of Fulham’s next challenge, as they take on reigning champions Manchester City on Tuesday. With momentum finally building, Chukwueze and his teammates will now look to secure another statement result.
