Chukwueze likes the African Messi tag – Trabelsi
Not Nigerian Robben but African Messi
Nabil Trabelsi, Gernot Rohr’s assistant has revelaed that Samuel Chukwueze prefers to be called African Lionel Messi.
The Villarreal winger is popular known as the Nigerian Arjen Robben after he revealed his admiration for the retired Dutch superstar.
He is often likened to Arjen Robben because of their similar playing style but Trabelsi says he likes the African Messi tag.
Trabelsi stated this in an interview with Filgoal, and also put Samuel Chukwueze in the same rank as other African superstars.
“Samuel is one of the best players in dribbling. I like to call him Africa’s Messi, which is the title he loves.
“He is one of the best players in the continent after Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and the great players.
“He suffered an injury during the current season with Villarreal that kept him away from his team for a long time, but he returned again. He will come back better in the future.”
Chukwueze who scored a goal in Nigeria 2-0 friendly win against Cotton Sports will be hoping to lead Eagles to the title in Cameroon.
