CJ McCollum Makes NBA History with Three-Point Milestone

CJ McCollum has made history in the NBA. The New Orleans Pelicans guard has now moved up to 18th place on the league’s all-time list for three-pointers made. He passed Hall of Famer Jason Kidd to reach the milestone.

McCollum achieved this on Sunday, during the Pelicans’ 136-130 away loss to the Detroit Pistons. Despite the defeat, the veteran guard was outstanding. He scored 40 points, hitting 16 of his 29 shots from the field. He also made five three-pointers in the game, helping him climb higher in NBA history.

The 32-year-old has become one of the best three-point shooters the league has ever seen. This latest achievement highlights McCollum’s consistency and skill from beyond the arc. The NBA congratulated him for his new ranking on social media, writing:
“Congrats to CJ McCollum of the Pelicans for moving into 18th on the all-time 3-POINTERS MADE list!”

McCollum’s big night also placed him third in the Pelicans’ history for most 40-point games in a New Orleans jersey. He now has six games with 40 points or more for the team, behind only Brandon Ingram and Anthony Davis.

Although the Pelicans have had a tough season with many injuries, McCollum has continued to lead by example. He has played 55 games so far this season, averaging 20.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.

McCollum joined New Orleans in 2022, hoping to help the team reach new heights. Although he has yet to play in an NBA Finals, his place in the record books is secure. He has one year left on his contract before becoming a free agent next summer.

For now, CJ McCollum’s name will stand alongside the greatest shooters in NBA history.
