Club World Cup Star Cole Palmer Gets Hero’s Welcome in St. Kitts

Cole Palmer, the young football star who plays for Chelsea and England, received a hero’s welcome when he arrived in St. Kitts — the Caribbean island where his grandfather, Sterry Palmer, was born.

Palmer, 23, came to the island after a great season, including winning the FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball, an award for the tournament’s best player. Many now believe he’s in the running for the Ballon d’Or, one of football’s highest honors.

He landed in St. Kitts on Monday night and was warmly welcomed with traditional Masquerade dancers and greetings from top government leaders.
