Coach Kennedy Boboye Returns to Akwa United
Kennedy Boboye, a well-known coach in Nigeria’s Premier Football League (NPFL), is back at Akwa United for the rest of the season. He signed a contract with the club on Monday.
Akwa United announced the deal on its official X page. The club said, “We have agreed on a mid-season managerial contract with Coach Kennedy Boboye. He won the NPFL title with us in 2021. He signed today and will start working with the team later this week.”
Boboye, who led Akwa United to their 2021 league title, will face the big challenge of helping the team stay in the NPFL. Akwa United is currently in 19th place out of 20 teams after 19 matches. The club needs to improve to stay in the league.
Akwa United is the second NPFL club to change its coach before the second half of the 2024/2025 season. In December, Enyimba FC hired Stanley Eguma as their new head coach after parting ways with their former coach, Yemi Daniel Olanrewaju. Eguma is a respected coach with a lot of experience in Nigerian football.
