Cole Palmer makes Premier League history in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Wolves

Chelsea continued their winning momentum in the Premier League with a 4-2 victory over Wolves at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a sensational first-half performance by Cole Palmer, who set a new Premier League record by scoring four goals in the opening 40 minutes of the match.

The Blues, coming off the back of a 5-0 Carabao Cup win against Barrow, made just one change to their starting lineup, with Malo Gusto replacing Tosin Adarabioyo in defence. Palmer, however, stole the show with his ruthless finishing, becoming the first player in Premier League history to net four goals in the first half of a match.

Wolves initially threatened and took an early lead in the seventh minute through Georginio Rutter, who headed the ball over Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez into an empty net. Rutter doubled Wolves’ advantage in the 21st minute, giving the visitors a comfortable lead.

Chelsea responded in style, with Palmer leading the comeback. He scored his first goal in the 28th minute and added two more within three minutes to turn the game around by the half-hour mark. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba reduced the deficit with a goal in the 34th minute, but Palmer struck again in the 41st minute to complete his quadruple, securing a 4-2 lead by halftime.

The second half was less eventful, though Chelsea had a goal disallowed for offside. Despite this, they maintained their control over the game and saw out a comfortable win, marking their fourth consecutive victory in all competitions.

Palmer’s incredible display not only earned him a place in the Premier League record books but also highlighted his importance to Chelsea’s attack under manager Enzo Maresca.
