Colombia 2024: Nigeria U20 Women Gears Up for Women World Cup
The countdown has begun for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup at Colombia 2024, and Head Coach Chris Musa Danjuma has announced the preliminary squad of 32 players. The team is set to begin their preparations with a rigorous training camp in Abuja, gathering talents across various positions.
Leading the squad is team captain Oluchi Ohaegbulem, alongside key players like first-choice goalkeeper Faith Omilana, defenders Shukurat Oladipo and Comfort Folorunsho, midfielders Chinyere Kalu, Adoo Yina, and Rofiat Imuran, and a lineup of 12 talented strikers including Janet Akekoromowei, Flourish Sabastine, and Aminat Bello.
Nigeria, a consistent contender in the tournament since its inception, faces a tough challenge in Group D alongside strong teams like Germany, Korea Republic, and Venezuela. The game, which will be played in three cities in Colombia from August 31st to September 22nd, promises intense competition and high stakes for all teams involved.
“All the invited players are expected to report at Serob Legacy Hotel, Abuja, on Sunday, July 7th,” Coach Danjuma emphasized, highlighting the importance of this initial phase of preparation.
The selection reflects a blend of experience and emerging talent, aiming to secure Nigeria’s competitive edge on the global stage.
