Columbia U-17 star Ortegon eyes a fun-filled game against Flamingos
Columbia U-17 star, Juana Ortegon, is looking to have great fun when she and her teammates filed out against Nigeria Women’s U-17 team, Flamingos on Wednesday at the ongoing FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in India.
The South Americans will be playing against Nigeria for the third time in the tournament history after defeats against the Flamingos in 2012, and 2014.
Despite her country’s poor record against their semifinal opponents at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday, Juana Ortegon just wants to make her nation happy by having fun against Flamingos.
The 16-year-old midfielder who was part of the Columbia U-20 team to the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica, however, understands the pressure and responsibility of representing her country, but she just wants to enjoy her football.
“There is pressure to some extent because playing for your country brings with it even more responsibility,” she said.
“But when you’re playing matches, you’re having fun because you know that you’re making your people happy.”
